After weighing local economic conditions, a decision has been made to close the Sheraton Chicago NW and CoCo Key Water Resort Arlington Heights as of December 28th. The decision to close the property was not made easily and follows many attempts to negotiate with union leaders and municipalities on union concessions and real estate tax increases. Given the state of the economy in the Chicago market, continued fall off of business travel and corporate markets, it is not economically viable to continue with operations. The closure of the property will have no impact on other properties within the CoCo Key Brand as this decision was made due to local conditions. CoCo Key operates nine other water resort properties across the United States with a new property under development in Orlando, Florida opening March of 2010.
